We had just defeated "Fluffy", now its time to find that Imperial Noble that can destroy the Hellforge.
| In the Shaft we get attacked by a Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer, 8 Blunderbusses, 8 Chaos Dwarves, and 3 Bull Centaur Champions. |
| The Bull Centaurs cavalry charge pushed the Priest into a separate room from the rest of us. Luckily, only the Blunderbuss can really target her as long as she does not attack. |
| Bull Centaur Champions are equipped with Parrying Edge, Crown of Shadows, and Helm of Gunbad. |
The Parry (5+) on the Bull Centaurs makes it difficult to hit them, so after turn one, we have only killed one. |
I apparently forgot to take pictures, but over 3-4 more turns, we whittle the Dwarves down, and eventually move the whole party back in to the Small Passageway so we don't accidently fall into "The Shaft". I believe atleast one Dwarf fell to its death and one of the Elves almost fell it, only being saved by the Rope.
In the Slave Pens, we find our Imperial Noble who can destroy the Hellforge, but first we must defeat 3 Trolls & 3 Stone Trolls. |
| 1 Troll down, 5 to go. |
4 Trolls down 2 to go. Unfortunetly, the troll's vomit has destroyed the Wardancer helmet. |
Two turns later, my Pit Fighter get around the Prison Cells to kill the last Troll, sadly the Wardancer lost their chest armour to even more Troll Vomit. |
| We travel up some stairs. |
| And then across a bridge. |
Upon entering the Hellforge Bridge, we get attacked from behind by 4 Bull Centaur Champions and 1 Dragon Ogre. |
| We knew it would take 2 turns for the Bull Centaurs to reach us, so we moved back just enough that they could reach the elves, but not the Priest or Pit Fighter. While also keeping 2 of the Bull Centaurs locked behind their brethren. |
| 3 Bull Centaurs armed with Sword of Pain, Stone of Change, and Armour of Invincibility. |
The Bull Centaurs have 12 Total Defense (4 Toughness, 4 Armour, and 4 Ignore Pain). It take 4-5 turns to kill all 4. The Dragon Ogre doesn't really provide any challenge as he has no Magic Equipment. |

I again forgot to take some photos of this. But we intentionally left the Imperial Engineer (proxid by Imperial Noble), in his cell where he would stay safe. We moved to the Hellforge Bridge and cleared it of enemies. Then moved back to the Slave Pens to set him free. We then escort the Engineer to the Hellforge Bridge. The Wardancer makes it into the Hellforge Bridge but before the rest of the party & the Engineer can move the last few steps in, we get an unexpected event, MONSTERS!
A single Bull Centaur Champion joined by 8 Chaos Dwarf Champions. 4 Dwarves can fit in the Chasm of Despair, the other 4 are in the Hellforge Bridge. The Dwarves are set up as Ranged attacker as they have the Crossbow of Doom. The Bull Centaur Champion has the Black Gem of Gnar and takes our Ranger into another realm for a 1v1 fight!
| Poor Ranger, fight 1v1 vs Bull Centaur with Paralysis! |
| Each time you are successfully hit by a Paralysis attack you get a
Paralysis Token. Each token gives you -1 Mov. If you reach Mov 0, you
die as you are turned to stone. If you pass a Str (8) Test during the
power phase, you remove all Paralysis Tokens you have. You can also
remove one Paralysis Counter per healing event instead of healing
wounds. It takes the Ranger 4 turns of combat, with several turns ending
with him at 1 Movement (luckily he had a few potions to keep his
Paralysis Token count low). |
| Our Engineer is in danger. If he stays with us in Chasm of Despair, he gets shot by Crossbow of Doom and maybe dies. The same fate could befall him in the Hellforge Bridge. But he only needs to live one turn in the Hellforge Bridge, and we succeed in our mission of Destroying the Hellforge. |
| We have the Wardancer escort the Engineer onto the bridge, that will split 2 Shots at Wardancer and 2 Shots at Engineer. The engineer should only die, if both shots hit and hit hard. My Pit Fighter tries to run down the 4 Chaos Dwarves in Chasm of Despair. The Priest followed me so I had a Rope near by while fighting on the Bridge. |
| So anyways, both shots hit and hit hard. He dies and we fail the adventure. Priest and Pit Fighter chase down the Chaos Dwarves that are running away while shooting us. |
| Because the Wardancer ran out of sight, the 4 Chaos Dwarves in Hellforge Bridge give chase, wanting someone to shoot and cast spells at. |
| We manage to pin down and kill the remaining Chaos Dwarves infront of us, while the ones behind pepper us with Dark Elf Magic and Crossbow bolts. |
The spells cast so far, weren't too dangerous, until this turn. They rolled a 12. Consult the table, Transformation of Kadon!
| They rolled a 2 on the transform table, and become a Lamassu! |
| Lamassu's are -2 to be hit by Magic Weapons, Terror (10), and Chaos Dwarf Magic (2). |
My Pit Fighter auto passes Terror tests because of his sword, but the other 3 warriors all fail their Terror Tests. I'm hitting only on 5+, and everyone else is only hitting on 6+. Luckily, much like Fluffy, this is a 4v1 fight. But he is a little more dangerous. One he re-selects his target each turn as he has both Fly and Never Pinned, two as a large monster, his attacks are done one at a time, if he knocks a party member down and still has remaining attack he can direct them at other adjacent party members. He could possibly knock 3 party members to the ground in one turn (the Priest is safe as she has that collar).
Wardancer & Pit Fighter move forward, while ranger moves out of range to force the Lamassu to target the front rank. For First turn. |
On the 3rd round of combat, we get the Lamassu down to less then 5 wounds the Priest makes her first attack of this combat using her Auto Hit once per turn ability on her hammer to finish the beast off. |
To escape this dungeon we can either exit through the entrance or we can exit through the Objective Room. It takes us like 12 turns to get out of the dungeon. We get struck with like 2 Traps and 1 Dungeon event, none of which hinder us mush.
Upon leaving the dungeon, we decide to head to a new City Settlement as the old one was suffering from that Catastrophic Event that made all expenses 3 times the normal cost. Additionally, since we failed the adventure, we had no reason to go back to the previous city.
That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.
DeMagic Tutor out.
